Nike’s focus on skateboarding continues with the upcoming release of a collab with Skatepark of Tampa, often referred to as SPoT. The SB release is inspired by a local legend involving a pirate.
The Nike x Skatepark of Tampa SB Dunk High Pro “Spot” arrives Feb. 25 and will retail for $110.
The collaboration, according to the brand, was inspired by the stories of José Gaspar, a Spanish pirate who pillaged the Florida coastline more than 200 years ago.
Nike and Skatepark of Tampa’s collab features pirate-like details, including a pair of crossed cutlasses on the toe box, a parrot-feather-inspired collar that will fray with wear so no pairs are exactly the same and a sockliner boasting gold doubloons.
The predominantly black shoe features a tough nubuck upper with a black midsole and a challenge red outsole. The shoe also features a Zoom Air unit for responsive cushioning.
Nike has stayed in the skateboarding world this year with collaborations and quick-strike product, including the SB Dunk Low Pro IW QS (released on Feb. 11) and the Dunk High Premium SB collab with Ithica, N.Y.’s Homegrown Skateshop that arrived Jan. 6.
