Is Nike Releasing the ‘Back to the Future II’ Self-Lacing Shoe on Oct. 4?

It’s been nearly a year to the date since Nike confirmed that the self-lacing Mag sneakers from “Back to the Future II” were in the works, and now, it looks like we’re one step closer to the highly anticipated launch.

At 10 a.m. ET today, Nike sent a tweet to Michael J. Fox — the actor who made the self-lacing sneakers famous in “Back to the Future II” — telling him that they’re “excited for tomorrow.”

You don’t need Doc Brown by your side to see that Nike is teasing some sort of announcement for the self-lacing Mag; however, it remains to be seen exactly what the brand has up its sleeve for Tuesday’s unveiling.

As of today, we know that the 2016 self-lacing Nike Mag will be available in limited quantities with proceeds benefitting the Michael J. Fox Foundation, although the specifics have not been confirmed.

More details on the Nike Mag will be coming very soon, but if you just can’t wait, you can read up on Nike’s other self-lacing shoe, the HyperAdapt 1.0, here.

Below, you’ll find an image of the letter that Nike designer Tinker Hatfield sent to Fox on “Back to the Future Day” 2015.
