Brazilian soccer star Neymar Jr. has an expression he aims to live by: “Ousadia Alegria,” meaning “daring” and “joy.” He believes in these words so much that he has them tattooed on his calves. Now, he’s inviting soccer fans to live by those words, too.
Nike has released Ousadia Alegria Hypervenom cleats, featuring designs by well-known Brazilian artist and designer Bruno Big.
“I associate Alegria with the joy of living and playing football, which I love most, and Ousadia in having the audacity to do something different, which people don’t expect to see,” said Neymar.
Bruno Big created a black-and-white fist design to represent Alegria and a heart to represent Ousadia. The Nike Swoosh, soles and rim of the sock liner are done in red for a pop of color.

The artist said that his intention was to “be more graphic than a direct message. That is the interesting point of it.”
The left and right cleats are not exactly the same. The Ousadia shoe has fingers wrapped around, as if someone is holding it. On the Alegria cleat, the fist is placed at the exact position where the shoe will strike the ball.
The shoes drop Jan. 31 exclusively on the Nike Football App. There are also two other shoe silhouettes — an indoor court shoe and a trainer — available on Feb. 2.
