It’s been quite some time since the Nike Air Tech Challenge IV has been available in its original form — 25 years to be exact — but Nike Sportswear has recently reissued the sneakers made famous by tennis legend Andre Agassi.
This original colorway was worn by Agassi during the 1991 U.S. Open and features style and design cues straight out of the early 1990s, such as swooping lines, vibrant hits of color, and the shoe’s trademark flaming tennis ball logo at the tongue.
The Air Tech Challenge IV retro is particularly noteworthy because this sneaker has never been rereleased until now. Nike has come close in recent years with the Air Tech Challenge Hybrid and Air Tech Challenge IV Low releases, but this marks the first time the original version has been available since its debut.
Andre Agassi spent 17 years of his career with Nike before signing with Adidas in 2005. In 2013, the tennis icon re-signed with Nike, a partnership that would kick off a number of special-edition sneaker releases.
