Although he’s only in his first NBA season, Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns isn’t wasting any time getting involved in the local Minneapolis community. Towns announced on Monday that he is partnering with the Salvation Army to launch a shoe drive.

Towns is encouraging fans to bring new, unused shoes to the box office at the Timberwolves’ home arena, Target Center, until Jan. 29.

In appreciation for those who make a donation, Towns is giving out tickets to the Timberwolves’ Feb. 8 and Feb. 22 games against the New Orleans Pelicans and Boston Celtics, respectively. Fans will receive a voucher for two tickets to one of these games for each pair of shoes they donate on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Many people are in need of new shoes,” said Towns. “With the support of the Salvation Army and Wolves fans, I’m hoping we can make a difference by supplying new shoes to those in need of a new pair of shoes this winter.”

Just 20 years old, Towns was the first overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. Nike signed Towns in August, along with No. 2 draft pick D’Angelo Russell. Last week, Adidas released three colorways of the Crazylight Boost 2.5 for Towns’ teammate Andrew Wiggins, who was last season’s NBA Rookie of the Year.
