Thanks to Brand Jordan’s recently reignited Wings initiative, all proceeds from the Air Jordan XII “Wings” shoe launch will be donated to the brand’s global community action program.
The new “Wings” iteration of the Air Jordan 12 silhouette was released on April 2, limited to only 12,000 pairs.
The shoe uses a black-and-white color palette, but features gold wings on the black portion after being wiped, agitated or rubbed. The kicks also boast other notable updates, including gold on its eyelets, side panel, insole and outsole, as well as a silhouette of Jordan’s wingspan on the heel.
The Wings initiative promotes the importance of youth education around the globe and is named in tribute to the original Air Jordan logo. The mission is inspired by NBA legend Michael Jordan and that his journey to greatness began in the classroom before the basketball court.
“The Wings program continues to focus on education and empowering kids around the world,” Larry Miller, Jordan Brand president, said in a statement issued Thursday. “The funds raised by the sale of the [shoes] will allow us to continue this mission and fund programs that encourage kids to reach their greatness.”
