The latest collaboration between Timberland and retailer Jimmy Jazz is worthy of taking up closet space. It also may make you run out for Chinese food.
Jimmy Jazz will drop its Timberland 6-inch “Sesame Chicken” boot on Saturday in all of its stores as well as at jimmyjazz.com. The silhouette will come in men’s ($190), grade school ($130), preschool ($95) and toddler sizing ($85).
The boot, according to Jimmy Jazz, is a remake of the “Sesame Chicken” field boot that was nicknamed after people compared the color of the boot to an order of sesame chicken from their local Chinese food spot, executed on Timberland’s iconic 6-inch model. The look’s tongue features a patch similar to the field boot instead of the Timberland stamp, a clay midsole paired with a black outsole, and a padded collar using the same canvas as the side panels of the field boot.
And for those interested in picking up a pair from the Harlem, N.Y., location on West 125th Street, the retailer will host an event starting at 3 p.m. ET on the day of the release, which will feature live dragon dancing and free sesame chicken. A limited run of the exclusive boot — only available at the Harlem location during the launch event — will feature special Chinese food takeout box packaging with Chinese restaurant-themed extras.
