The latest collaboration between J.Crew and New Balance has almost landed.
A limited-edition sneaker by the brands honoring the anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission will debut on Wednesday.
J.Crew x New Balance’s 997 Moonshot shoes pay a nod to the historic moment when man first walked on the moon.
Americans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the lunar surface on July 20, 1969. While on live TV, Armstrong famously stepped onto the moon and described the event as “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
The footwear features a color palette that resembles the planetary satellite, including an off-white suede and dark gray leather that resembles the moon’s surface, and navy blue panels that represent space.
The 997 Moonshot will be sold in specialty silver packaging — similar to how astronaut food is wrapped — at select J.Crew retail stores; the footwear is also available at Jcrewmens.com.
