Foot Locker unveiled its fifth-annual Week of Greatness on Tuesday night at a press preview in New York City, a week of stellar sneaker releases and related content boasting today’s biggest names in sports and entertainment.
For the fifth-annual Week of Greatness — which starts Saturday — the retailer created five humorous videos that feature NFL quarterback Tom Brady, NBA forward Carmelo Anthony, rapper Ja Rule, NBA point guard Kyrie Irving, and European football stars Gareth Bale and Anthony Martial.
Aside from the clips, Foot Locker will deliver new sneaker and apparel releases every day during the week at Foot Locker and Kids Foot Locker doors worldwide.
In addition to the sneakers and apparel, Foot Locker partnered with Pintrill for a limited-edition pin pack to commemorate the fifth year. Customers who buy Week of Greatness product in select cities can get the pins, which are numbered to 500.

“Celebrating our fifth ‘Week of Greatness,’ with hilarious anecdotes of greatness from the likes of Tom Brady, Carmelo Anthony, Ja Rule, Kyrie Irving and more is really special,” Jake Jacobs, EVP and CEO for Foot Locker North America, said in a statement. “This is an event that our customers truly look forward to, and we’re proud to have grown the campaign over the years.”
Anthony’s video takes place in a gym, where the baller runs into two men who want to head to Foot Locker for the Week of Greatness, but were shocked by Anthony stating flippantly that he would try to make time to shop as well. They proceed to remind the New York Knicks star that greatness is only temporary.
Ja Rule has arguably the funniest video of the five. The rapper is having a conversation with men in his SUV that appear to be his friends, but they turn out to be passengers paying Ja Rule for a ride. To wrap the clip, Ja Rule reminds them to give him a five-star rating.
Just as funny as Ja Rule’s spot is Irving’s. “Video Game” shows a boy — who uses Irving to play NBA 2K — approaching the Cleveland Cavaliers star to find him playing a different video game where the boy is the main character.
To celebrate the Week of Greatness in Europe, Foot Locker created a video with soccer standouts Gareth Bale and Anthony Martial, demonstrating speed and accuracy on the pitch.
The commercials were created by worldwide agency BBDO.
