Extra Butter Teams With Reebok For New York Islanders-Themed Collab
Extra Butter’s ownership and staff love the New York Islanders — so much so that they joined forces with Reebok and the hockey franchise to release a shoe dedicated to them.
The Extra Butter x New York Islanders x Reebok Ventilator Supreme “Dynasty” arrives March 19 and will retail for $135.
“As die-hard Islanders fans, we were excited for the team’s move into Brooklyn [from Uniondale, N.Y.] and wanted to share our passion with existing fans, while speaking to new fans with a design that tells the story of the New York Islanders dynasty,” said Jason Faustino, co-owner and creative director of Extra Butter.
The shoe’s colorway evokes the team’s jersey designs throughout its history and displays the official logos of the Islanders and the NHL. The silhouette uses quality materials including premium suede and perforated leather, and it boasts hockey equipment features including ballistic nylon and hockey skate laces.
It also boasts details that celebrate the franchise’s celebrated history, including the years of the four consecutive seasons the team won the Stanley Cup in the 1980s embroidered on the heel, and the number “740” inside the tongue, the number of career wins for the team’s late Hall of Fame coach Al Arbour, who coached the team throughout its dynasty era.

The boutique retailer collaborated with Reebok for the “Street Meat” Ventilator in 2015, and believed the brand was the ideal partner for its latest sneaker creation.
“Reebok is the perfect brand for this project because of their superior craftsmanship, amazing team on every level, and their connection to the NHL as they produce the official jerseys worn throughout the league,” Faustino said. “The Ventilator Supreme is a classic Reebok heritage product that fits great and could appeal to a wide generation of both hockey fans and sneakerheads.”
Faustino, who recalls memories of the Islanders beating the Penguins in the 1993 playoffs and doing research for the 2009 draft that produced team captain John Tavares, said he and the Extra Butter crew have become closer with some of the store’s loyal customers through their love of the team.
“At the shop we’ve bonded together along with some customers whom are virtually family to us at this point; we started going to games together and even shared a season ticket package all together during the last year at Nassau Coliseum,” Faustino said. “The team played so well in the regular season and had a few wins in the playoffs that caused us to practically create a mosh pit in our seating section. Those experiences are bittersweet but unforgettable.”
