Bait spoke exclusively with Footwear News in April about its upcoming three-way collaboration Diadora, boasting six shoes that draw inspiration from DreamWorks’ biggest entertainment franchises. The second release from the collection drops this weekend.
The Bait x DreamWorks x Diadora N9000 “Shrek” arrives in all Bait stores on Saturday — as well as via an online raffle — and will retail in adult sizes for $220. Infant sizes are also available.
The made-in-Italy shoe features a color palette reminiscent of the Shrek character and his clothing, using natural tones and olive to execute the story. The shoe uses premium suede, tumbled leather and Italian canvas. On its tongue and heel are branded embroideries, the insole is triple branded and features artwork exclusive to the collab, and the outsole features speckled pattern with straw particles.
The first release from the partnership hit stores in late May, the S8000 “Kung Fu Panda,” which retailed for $300.
“The licensing game is like the sneaker game — it’s a small world,” said Peng Cheng, owner of Bait. “Usually footwear brands reach out directly to licensing companies or licensing companies reach out to footwear players — there’s not a middle person or business. It’s unique to have a triple-branded licensing collaboration.”
