Under Armour’s Andy Murray Wins First China Open Title

Tennis star Andy Murray, who’s ranked No. 2 in the world, is getting closer to the year-end top spot.

The Scottish ace nabbed his first China Open men’s single tennis title today after defeating Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in Beijing, 6-4 7-6 (7/2).

“It was probably my best match of the week,” Murray told reporters. “Considering the conditions were fairly cold, I was still serving over a hundred miles an hour on some second serves.”

The victory marks his fifth men’s single title this year, and draws him closer to upending No. 1-ranked Novak Djokovic’s position.

Murray had on his Under Armour Clutchfit Pursuit sneakers in a white colorway.

The flexible footwear features two-way stretch synthetic material and a foam sole that supports stability. The athlete signed a four-year endorsement deal with Under Armour in late 2014.

Meanwhile, Dimitrov wore Nike sneakers for the match. The Bulgarian cited “chilly” weather conditions and Murray’s performance for his loss.

“Andy’s pretty much the greatest player this year,” he said. “He’s been winning a lot and has a lot of confidence. He obviously knows how to move well on the court. All the credit to him.”

Murray will remain in China to take part in next week’s Shanghai Rolex Masters.
