Adidas has unveiled the latest iteration of its NMD sneaker, set to drop this fall.
The NMD XR1, a follow-up to the NMD_R1 and NMD City Sock, will be available Sept. 17. The first colorway is an almost all-black version, with a micro-ribbed knit upper and black accents. The shoes will feature a black Boost midsole and black EVA inserts, nearly identical to those on the NMD_R1.
Some changes include the lacing system, which is concentrated at the top of the foot much like Pharrell Williams’ Adidas Originals Hu NMD shoe, allowing the foot more freedom.

Also coming in September is an NMD_R1 in all red, including a red Boost midsole. Adidas only recently began offering its Boost midsole in colors other than white on its Ultra Boost Uncaged and the limited-edition NMD in Pitch Black.
