Zayn Malik dropped a new single last week that appears to allude to girlfriend Gigi Hadid’s casual-yet-cool sneaker style.
In collaboration with U.K. electronic duo Snakeships, the 23-year-old British singer released “Cruel” on Friday. Malik sings about a love interest he can’t get off his mind.
In the chorus, Malik sings about “a cruel world,” in which he’s saving all his love for this special girl. In the second verse, he says a “Venus in Converse” has put a spell on him, teasing visions of a party, which is rumored to reference Kylie Jenner’s 18th birthday party, which is where Hadid and Malik first met.
The American supermodel has been seen wearing Converse Chuck Taylor All Star kicks on several occasions, supporting buzz that Malik’s “Cruel” lyrics are indeed about her.
Toward the end of winter, Hadid was spotted leaving her New York City apartment wearing the low-top Chuck Taylor All Star II.
In February, Zadid was seen donning an Adidas tracksuit, Converse All-Star sneakers and a Saint Laurent bag when the couple hit The Nice Guy lounge in Los Angeles.
In 2014, the supermodel was spotted out texting on her cellphone in New York City.
