Chef Mario Batali is rarely without his favorite orange Crocs shoes, even at the White House.
Batali was tapped to work with the White House chefs on the menu for President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama‘s final state dinner, hosting Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and his wife, Agnese Landini.
The chef is known to wear orange Crocs in the kitchen, and this occasion was no exception. He even wore the shoes while getting a tour of the White House grounds.

Even the day before the dinner, Batali wore his Crocs to give the press a preview of what he was cooking up.
In a July appearance on “The Rachael Ray Show,” Batali revealed that he received 200 pairs of the orange Crocs after learning the company planned to discontinue that color. Batali also collaborates with the brand, which sells a Bistro Mario Batali Edition orange shoe.
