Women’s Spring 2016 Trend: Textured Metallics

This season, go for gold (or silver, or pewter). The latest crop of metallic shoes for spring ’16 is refreshened via textural finishes. The treatment is done in a variety of ways, from embossed croc leathers to crackled patents.

While metallic shoes should be a staple in your closet year-round, the newest styles focus on cutting the severity of shininess by adding a rougher, more gritty feel.

Evening heels were designed with impactful finishes. Christian Louboutin’s embossed snakeskin pump features multicolor metallics. Stuart Weitzman’s signature Nudist sandal was elevated with a grainy metallic sheen.

More casual takes include MM6 Maison Margiela’s embossed croc low-top sneaker. (Glitz for day? Why not?) Robert Clergerie’s high-top sneaker with jute sole is an interesting combination of casual and dressy.

As usual, you’ll want to keep your outfit simple if you’re sporting this season’s statement shoes. But there’s no reason you can’t mix metallics: Try clashing gold accessories with silver shoes for a modern feel.
