New York Fashion Week Shoe Of The Day: Fall 2016 Collections [UPDATED]

FN's editors select the daily shoe that stood out among the rest at NYFW.

Day 8 — Marc Jacobs
Extreme platform boots were rendered less severe in pink suedes or embossed-croc leathers. Naturally, Lady Gaga was drawn to the shoe (she walked in the designer’s show wearing the skyscraper style).

Day 7 — Delpozo

Heightened lace-ups made their way down the Delpozo runway on day 7 of NYFW. Thanks to the addition of sequins, leather laces and contrasting piping, we’re deeming these the ultimate flatforms.

Day 6 — Tory Burch

Tory Burch grew up riding. Of course she did. With that elite sentiment in mind, ripe with cool-again footwear references, the shoe lineup spelled giddy up. Polo-style shafts and tall boots with removable spats wouldn’t be out of place at a Hamptons stable or on city streets.

Day 5 — Phillip Lim

Phillip Lim balanced those ’90s references he loves with elements very of the now. Cue crushed velvet bootines with thick sloping slab heels and chenille socks paired with comfort sandals. They effectively capped off the utility spirit of this collection.

Day 4 — Prabal Gurung

Whipstitched coats, luxe fur trims and bare-shoulder halter dresses added an unexpected touch to Gurung’s signature eveningwear. Models wore pointy ankle boots with metallic silver toe caps, further accentuating the silhouette’s severity. Gurung certainly created a case for the coolest uptown girl at the party.

Day 3 — Altuzarra

Croc-stamped over-the-knee boots might sound like an outlandish proposition to some. But not Joseph Altuzarra. Perched on a very poised low-block heel and in rich jewel tones or jet black, they proved that piping hot and practical can, ever so often, come together. Bets are this will be one of fall ’16s key footwear statements.

Day 2 — Puma by Rihanna

Rihanna turned heads with the release of her “Creeper” silhouette with Puma last year, which featured the appeal of the brand’s iconic lifestyle heritage with an exaggerated sole to provide a modern feel. But for Friday night’s Fenty by Rihanna runway show in NYC, the Creeper’s modernization was elevated — literally. Models stepped in the updated version of the shoe with a much taller platform sole. Good balance required.

Day 1 — Kanye West Yeezy Season 3

Straying from the Primeknit upper and forefoot strap of the Yeezy Boost 350 and Yeezy Boost 750, respectively, is the Yeezy 1050, a duckboot-influenced silhouette with a Gore-Tex upper prepared in a neutral color palette. The boot strays from the athletic influences of his original two shoes and leans toward the technical elements of the outdoor. It complemented the collection’s continued study of utility dressing.
