New York Fashion Week’s Coolest Runway Shoe Collabs

With New York Fashion Week shows officially underway, FN is taking a look at the need-to-know shoe collaborations for spring ’17. This season saw both new and returning partnerships, from emerging brands such as Sarah Flint along with athletic labels including Adidas (plus, be sure to check back for continuous updates).

Yeezy x Adidas
Kanye West debuted his Yeezy Season 4 show (which you can read about here) in collaboration with Adidas. The collection featured new Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers in both tan and white, as well as leather pool slides.
Christian Louboutin: Bibhu Mohapatra, Cushnie et Ochs, Jenny Packham, Naeem Khan, Novis, The Blonds, Tome, Zac Posen
Call him the king of New York Fashion Week: Christian Louboutin will lend his red-soled designers to a bevy of labels this season. Expect elegant styles at Jenny Packham and Zac Posen, and crazier finishes at the Blonds (where more is always more).

Sarah Flint x Chris Gelinas
Emerging designer Sarah Flint will present her first runway collaboration with designer Chris Gelinas. “I’ve been a fan of [Gelinas’] work for a while now, and it was so inspiring to work with him to create these special styles,” Flint told Footwear News. “The runway is new for my collection, so I was thinking about movement and his incredible use of color while creating these.”
Creatures of the Wind x Newbark
Creatures of the Wind partnered with Newbark — which produces all of its shoes in Los Angeles — on the runway shoes this season. Standouts included metallic flatform wedge sandals and striped Beatle boots.
Manolo Blahnik: Jason Wu, Khaite, Protagonist, Sally LaPointe, Wes Gordon, J. Mendel
Luxury bigwig Manolo Blahnik will lend his whimsical eye to several designers this season. A new partnership includes shoes for Jason Wu. We expect to see a lot of unique takes on Manolo’s classic BB pumps, and perhaps more experimental styles at Protagonist or Wes Gordon.
George Esquivel x Brock Collection
Veteran shoe designer George Esquivel designed the shoes for Brock Collection this season. The show offered pointy block-heel mules and leather boots cut below the knee — all made in handstained alligator hides for a luxe touch.
Hood By Air x Frye
One of the most unexpected partnerships of the week, Hood By Air designed Shayne Oliver collaborated with boot brand Frye on crazy double-sided styles.
Malone Souliers x Adam Lippes
The two labels are back at it again for their third season. The latest partnership will include three styles: a flat open-toe pump, an open-toe stiletto sandals and a pointy mid-heel bootie. They will be presented in materials such as colorful satins and crafted embroidery.
Paul Andrew: Tanya Taylor, Rosie Assoulin, Carolina Herrera, Narciso Rodriguez, Lela Rose
Paul Andrew once again provided the shoes for Tanya Taylor’s latest presentation. The collection included whimsical takes on slide sandals, from tubular treatments to shaggy tassels. Andrew also did the shoes for Rosie Assoulin, partnering with Swarovski on colorful crystal embellishments.
Via Spiga x Jonathan Simkhai
A first for both brands, Via Spiga and Jonathan Simkhai collaborated on a special capsule collection of three runway styles. It included tasteful ankle-strap sandals and mesh pumps.
