Manolo Blahnik is coming to a movie theater near you. The brand confirmed today that the iconic footwear designer will be the subject of the upcoming documentary, Manolo, directed by Michael Roberts.
The new film will offer a behind-the-scenes look into his whimsical world of design, as well as document his rise into a pop culture sensation — much thanks to many Carrie Bradshaw mentions on Sex and the City, which earned him a major cult following.
“Having known Manolo for over 30 years, I can say he is a multifaceted intellectual and romantic whose engaging mind and ingenious work is made for entertaining cinema,” Roberts said in a release.
Manolo will also feature interviews with notable fashion faces like Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Rihanna, Naomi Campbell and Iman, as well as fellow footwear designers Charlotte Olympia and Isaac Mizrahi.

The film is currently being produced by Nevision Studios One Limited. Production sales company Content Media has acquired worldwide sales rights to the documentary, and will immediately begin introducing the film to distributors during the European Film Market in Berlin. No release date has been finalized.
This past year has seen further growth and success for the designer.
In August, Saks Fifth Avenue opened one of Manolo’s largest boutiques inside its New York store location. For spring ’16, the designer also introduced new takes on his classic Hangisi and BB pumps, as well as fun new raffia treatments on sandals.
Blahnik was awarded the Footwear News Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
