The Mood: Bold, structured shapes and texture play inspired by the rich interiors of the late David Hicks. Think flippy, ruffled skirts paired with cocoon sweaters and mesh sleeves. Volume, volume, volume. There was also a feeling of unfussy eveningwear: elongated tuxedo shirts lined with color-blocked leather trim, fur coats with oversized hoods.
The Shoes: The vibrant textures continued into the shoes. Squared-toe mules had multicolored scales with a slight metallic sheen. A real standout. Kitten heel booties were pointy and had a translucent vamp embellished with silver and black crystals. Even Anderson’s simpler shoes, like a embossed mule with leather wrap-tying around the ankle, had visual interest via a circular heel.
The Review: Anderson daringly goes where few others dare to go. Not conventional in the slightest, his latest collection continued to offer a sense of newness that is difficult to achieve in such a saturated field. And he does all of this while balancing his other role at Loewe. Meanwhile, his footwear offering only continues to grow stronger — thank the fashion gods for a designer who doesn’t toss their creativity when it comes to creating shoes.
