“All black everything. Black cards, black cars.” It was Jay-Z who rapped that notable lyric in ‘Run This Town,’ and anybody who follows that enviable lifestyle will likely go for Giuseppe Zanotti‘s latest men’s collection.
The designer’s fall ’16 men’s presentation, debuted during Milan Fashion Week on January 16, featured a mostly-black offering of his signature sneakers and smoking slippers. Instead of major color experimentation, Zanotti focused in on new materials this season — with just a touch of glitz.
“The fall men’s collection is designed for a man who loves to express himself through innovative shoes and accessories,” Zanotti told Footwear News. “Classic materials are combined with new elements and sparkly details for an attitude fatale.”
Velvet Chukkah boots had a silver toe cap and eyelets. Smoking slippers were also done in velvet, with a silver chain accent or elastic band overtop the vamp. Some had square toes while others were more rounded.
Sneaker standouts included a new, sportier shape for the brand. Titled “The Runner,” it featured a pointier toe than Zanotti’s usual silhouettes, as well as gold hardware and subtle studding made out of a 3-D tech fabric.
While thematic, we would have enjoyed more color in the collection. Plus, while Zanotti’s sneakers are his strongpoint, he needed more boots. It’s fall, after all!
