You can always count on Paris to end fashion month with a bang. While the runways in New York, London and Milan offered plenty of wacky shoes on the runway, Paris proved to be the most plentiful, with designers pushing experimental styles like spandex thigh-highs, mega platforms and rainbow colorways.
At Balenciaga, Demna Gvasalia pushed his new look for the label with a series of spandex thigh-high heels. The unforgiving styles were done in punchy colors that were color-blocked against the ready-to-wear. On the other end of the spectrum, Rick Owens went slouchy this season with ultra-pointy wedge boots.
Ultra-high platforms dominated the scene in many different interpretations.
At Rochas, Alessandro Dell’Acqua designed mega platforms in printed satin and embroidered sequins. At Giambattista Valli, pointy platforms had slightly curved heels for a futuristic look. Meanwhile, Manish Arora went full tilt with neon creppers that had rainbow flatforms. Because more is always more.
