Fashion took center stage at a White House state dinner on Thursday night honoring new Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau. The glitzy affair brought in famous Canadians, among them actor Ryan Reynolds, who came with wife-actress Blake Lively. Others in attendance included actress Sandra Oh, singer Sara Bareilles and actor Mike Myers.
All eyes — and camera lenses — seemed to be on Michelle Obama, who wore a custom Jason Wu gown. Her deep-blue strapless gown featured multicolored embroidered flowers — the same material that appeared in Wu’s fall ’16 collection.
A slit in Mrs. Obama’s gown gave us a peek at her Manolo Blahnik silver Chaos ankle-strap sandals. The three-inch heels are currently available to purchase and retail for $725. Earlier in the day, Mrs. Obama wore a pair of her go-to black Jimmy Choo pumps.
At the dinner, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau wore bright purple shoes by Canadian designer Zvelle and an equally colorful gown by another Canadian, Lucian Matis.
