With the 2016 Met Gala set for Monday in New York, celeb stylists are furiously working to finalize their looks for the red carpet. This year’s theme, titled “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” will hopefully bring a number of fun, futuristic looks — and we’ve got the statement shoes they should wear with them.
Luckily, high-end designers happened to be feeling very techy this season. Avant-garde designers such as Rick Owens or Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy created wild, architectural shapes that fall in line with the Met Gala’s theatrical style mandate.
Details such as pin-thin heels or lucite accents will add a futuristic feel to any look. We love the odd shapes, too: Jimmy Choo’s sculpted heel sandal or Rick Owens’ curved wedge will surely add drama to the carpet.
Yet, as celebs often tend to do, we can guarantee most of the shoe selections will be safe. Still, metal studding, even in a more subtle platform, at least pay an homage to the night’s theme. An all-over metallic or silver sequin feels equally as machine-like.
