Mariah Carey moans about her struggles with a pair of platform stilettos in the first episode of her E! docu-series, “Mariah’s World,” but Mimi suffered much worse when she later promoted the eight-part show at NBC’s Upfronts presentation in May.
The intimate look at the singer’s life debuted Sunday, with no shortage of extraordinary moments that solidified her reputation as a grand diva.

Only in “Mariah’s World” does one lounge in diamonds, sip champagne and have four handlers fasten her shoes.
“It’s taking me a minute to put these shoes on!” Carey explained while clad in a gown on a yacht in Capri, Italy. She was flanked by assistants who helped with the footwear. “Oprah told me, ‘Don’t let anybody think that you don’t know how to put your shoes on anymore.’
“The problem is these shoes are abusive and I can’t put them on alone,” she added. “I’m not gonna lie about it.”
The “abuse” she suffered doesn’t compare to the moment she nearly toppled over in a pair of towering Christian Louboutins while promoting the series on May 16 in New York City.
While she was strutting on the blue carpet in the luxury label’s Victoria pumps, one of the shoes slipped off her foot — but she recovered her balance and narrowly avoided tumbling down.
The daring black leather pumps feature a 3-inch platform and 6.3-inch stiletto heel. They’re available for $1,075 online.
