These days, the coolest sneakers aren’t always made by athletic brands. Lots of high-end designers have jumped into the sneaker market, and celebrities are fully embracing it.
French fashion houses Dior and Céline have created popular styles. Rihanna is a fan of Dior’s embellished Fusion sneakers, which she’s worn in multiple colorways. Kendall and Kylie Jenner and their mom Kris Jenner have been seen wearing Céline’s slip-on sneakers in both black and white, which retail for more than $770. Alexander McQueen’s laceup sneakers with an oversized sole retail for $575 and count Elle Fanning and Alicia Vikander as fans.
Brands such as Versace and Giuseppe Zanotti offer flashier styles. At the American Music Awards, Frankie Grande wore a pair of Versace’s high-top sneakers with the brand’s Medusa-head logo in gold on the oversized tongue. Several performing artists look to Zanotti for on-stage shoes that are bold yet comfortable. Missy Elliott, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez and Madonna have worn the designer’s wedge sneakers.
Maison Margiela’s minimalist sneakers have been seen on the likes of Kanye West, James Harden and Chris Brown.
Despite their expensive tastes, celebrities also embrace more reasonably priced sneakers, from Adidas to Nike to Converse to Vans.
