If Donatella Versace knows one thing, it’s her customer. Versace’s resort ’16 presentation did not pretend to be anything but its brazen itself, with the footwear collection offering a pop of neon that’s especially synonymous with the flash-and-awe customers look for in the Italian label.
Electric, eye-popping hues were transferred onto a variety of styles. Chunky, flatform slide sandals were done in saturated oranges and green patent leathers (with Versace’s signature Medusa logo on the upper, of course). The same hues were done for heeled mules, some of which featured a thick platform sole and block heel.
Thigh-high stockings were matched with the shoes, done in opaque shades of orange and green. While the look may have resulted in a cartoonish effect, one has to remember the resort season isn’t exactly about day-to-day styling.
At times, the collection was pared down as well, with the same slip-on-and-go styles done in a black patent. Equally minimal were the models’ pedicure treatments—many models went bare-toed in the styles.
Platform mules and slides were also done in a printed upper, matching the same psychedelic prints done in the ready-to-wear pieces.
