Versace Spring 2016 Shoe Highlights: Milan Fashion Week

The expression “legs for days” was surely coined at a Versace show. Flats or sensible heel heights do not appear to be in Donatella Versace’s va-va-voom lexicon, after all. With that, she sent her spring ’16 crew of top models down the runway in truly towering, 7” plus inch heels. No wonder the casting was chock full of supers – only expert catwalkers could manage the long haul around the Citylife Palace these extreme shoes.
Yes, they were to-the-heavens high, but thankfully, the footwear on display was also sturdy. With a thick lug sole and chunky heel too, these were stompers, not stilettos. The heavy boot and sandal version disregarded seasonality in order to create a strong look.
A times, the models definitely slowed their pace at the weight of them. Overall, the show benefitted from welcome styling tricks, which extended to shoes. For example, ladder-strapped styles were given a touch of nonchalance when worn with socks.

Speaking of taking things down a few notches, there was also a modern mule version with a lower blocky heel, done both neutrals and neons. Call them the Versace version of a flip-flop. Sensible? Not quite. And that’s a compliment.
