Fashion Week street style calls up imagery of glamorous women teetering from one show to the next in torturous designer heels. This season, though, the look was all about comfort, with many show-goers opting for low-top court sneakers.
Adidas proved to be the standout shoe of choice, with many attendees drawn to the classic Superstar style. The brand’s Stan Smith tennis sneaker was also seen in red and white colorways, a departure from the style’s signature green shade.
New Balance and Converse also made appearances, while the Nike x Riccardo Tisci collaboration continued to make the rounds.
While designer shoes were still very present outside the shows, the focus on classic sneaker brands was refreshing in a sea of label-focused footwear. The look is indeed a riff on the normcore movement, though the looks here were styled in a more polished, less ironic fashion (no fanny packs or ratty sweaters).
White low-top courts were a popular choice on spring ’15 runways, with virtually every men’s and women’s brand offering its own spin on the simple style.
