Stella McCartney To Design Adidas 2016 Great Britain Olympic Kit

The 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro are just a year away, and today it was announced that Stella McCartney is returning as designer of Great Britain’s Adidas gear.
McCartney has been collaborating with Adidas since 2004. Her line with the brand has expanded to include a range of apparel and footwear. In 2014, the first Adidas by Stella McCartney U.S. location opened its doors on Miami’s Lincoln Road.
The British designer was responsible for creating Team GB’s Adidas looks for the 2012 Olympics in London. She posted a photo on Instagram writing, “1 year to go until #Rio2016! I am thrilled to be back as @adidasuk Creative Director for @teamgb for the next Olympics and Paralympics Games!! It is an honour to work with our great athletes again!!”

Adidas UK posted a video on Twitter teasing the designs and showing McCartney meeting with Team GB athletes such as gold medal cyclist Laura Trott to test fabrics and ideas.
McCartney is the first fashion designer to design for a team across all competitions. Ralph Lauren outfits the U.S. team for the opening ceremony, but not for competition.
The Team GB kit in 2012 was inspired by the Union flag and also included footwear that McCartney had a hand in designing. The London Olympics were the most successful in Team GB’s history in more than 100 years—they won 65 medals and took third place in the overall medal count.
