Barneys New York is debuting its latest Sole Series drop with Diadora trainers. This release follows the Adidas Stan Smith sneakers, Vans slip-on sneakers, Filling Pieces sneakers, Timberland field boots and Converse Chuck Taylors.
The sneakers will be offered in a black, gold and white colorway, as well as a blue, bronze, black and white one. Italy-based brand Diadora has been around for nearly 70 years and has been ramping up its U.S. presence this year.
Chris Pepe, Barneys senior buyer of men’s footwear and creator of BNY Sole Series, says the team decided to replace TPU plastic, a material often used in sneakers, with matte leather. Pepe emphasized their effort to highlight elements of the shoe typically used in sports performance.

“We wanted to do something a little different, and an underlay of speccio metallic, a mirrored metallic leather, adds detail,” said Pepe. “We chose colorways that you would typically find in a traditional sneaker as well as a fashion sneaker.”
The shoes retail for $315 and are available in Barneys stores and online.
The Sole Series continues through December 2015.
