Just in time for back-to-school season, Foot Locker and Adidas unveiled its latest ad as part of its Fresh Start campaign, featuring NBA stars Damian Lillard and Andrew Wiggins, alongside late-night host and comedian, Jimmy Kimmel.
The commercial, called “The Bobby Butter Story,” includes the Adidas Originals ZX Flux Prism Sole and Red Galaxy models.
Stacy Cunningham, Executive Vice President of marketing for Foot Locker said in a statement, “Kicking off the back-to-school season with two young NBA talents is a perfect way to feature the hot new Adidas Originals gear hitting Foot Locker stores. Tying in Jimmy Kimmel makes the spot even more fun, as we continue to push the comedic expectations of our ‘Approved’ campaign.”
In the ad, Lillard, the 2012-13 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year, advises Wiggins, the 2014-15 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year, to make sure his early success doesn’t make him complacent, and with Wiggins’ new Adidas gear from Foot Locker, he’s returning fresher than ever. “You gotta evolve because you don’t want to end up like Bobby Butter [played by Kimmel],” says Lillard.
Kimmel, complete with soul patch and Adidas kicks, continued his comedic relief in a press release, saying, “Playing Bobby Butter allowed me to showcase both my basketball skills and sick street style. I’ve been wearing adidas since the ’80s when I was one of the founding members of Run DMC.”
Adidas’ ZX Flux sneakers range from $90-$120, and are available at Foot Locker stores nationwide and on Footlocker.com.
