All-white sneakers were a trend on spring ’15 runways, with virtually every design house offering its own take on the classic tennis-inspired style. Now, the trend has reached the market and is ready to infiltrate your closet.
From high to low, footwear brands have embraced the minimal sneaker look with unexpected design finishes. Strange Matter, a new addition to the sneaker market, amplified the white high-top with three wide velcro straps. Acne Studios also played with strapping, staggering three velcro straps in an asymmetrical grouping. Balenciaga played with leather perforation, using it in a striped formation.
While the look can be quite stark, the key is to pair the shoe with like-minded ready-to-wear colors (think cooler tones, as well as black and grey). Also look for unusual silhouettes to keep the style from looking too bland.
Tip: To keep your white sneakers looking clean, Jason Markk offers easy-to-use leather-cleaner kits.
