If you wear the Nike LeBron 13 on the court against LeBron James, he has a message for you: “I’m gonna bust your ass, straight up.”
The superstar Cleveland Cavaliers forward and Nike-sponsored athlete was featured in the GQ video series “Grails,” where he discussed the “holiest thing” in his closet, the Nike Air Zoom Generation he wore during the first home game of his career.
But the star baller didn’t stop at discussing his shoes — he also shared insight on what he thought when players would wear Air Jordans when facing Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.
“When I was a kid and I used to see guys wear MJ’s shoes when they played against MJ, I was like ‘Oh, MJ’s got a little mental edge over those guys,’” he said.
Now a veteran in the league, with a pair of NBA championships and four NBA MVP awards to his name, James said he has that same mental edge when opponents wear his signature shoe.
“If you’re just a guy that actually goes to Foot Locker or somewhere and gets a pair of ‘Brons and you want to wear them on a Tuesday night versus me, I’m gonna bust your ass, straight up,” he said.
James discussed his advantage over other players in the video while passing around his latest signature shoe, the Nike LeBron 13 in the Written in the Stars color way, which hits stores Saturday.
