Nike Unveils Kevin Durant’s KD8 Signature Shoe

Nike posted the first images and release date for its latest signature shoe for NBA superstar Kevin Durant. The Oklahoma City Thunder forward see the first edition of his KD8 in stores on June 27.

NIKEiD personalization of the shoe will be available on June 23.

For the first time in a basketball shoe, Nike used its Flyweave technology for the upper and a full-length Zoom Air unit.

“When I tested the KD8, I instantly loved the springy response of the Zoom Air combined with the natural feel of the Flyweave. I didn’t want to take it off,” said Durant in a statement from the brand.

The initial KD8 colorway hitting stores is the limited-edition July 4 release. The shoe features an entirely red, white and blue palette. The  upper is predominately blue, with hints of red and a darker blue that resemble fireworks. The outsole is a translucent red beneath the full-length Zoom Air unit.

The second colorway, hitting stores on July 11, is predominantly red, inspired by a matte red Chevrolet Camaro that Durant had customized in 2010. The upper and outsole are red, with black and silver accents providing contrast.

The KD8 will retail for $180; the NIKEiD custom sneakers retail for $225.

Although Nike was still releasing editions of the KD7, the brand debuted sketches of the KD8 back in May.
