The Air Jordan sneakers Michael Jordan wore in his last regular-season game at the famed Chicago Stadium are up for auction by Huggins and Scott. Jordan wore the shoes in his last game there, on April 22, 1993, before leading the Bulls to their third straight NBA Championship title.

Jordan suddenly retired after the win to pursue a career in baseball, but came back to basketball in 1995 and guided the Bulls to three more straight championship wins.

After the April 22 game, Jordan signed the sneakers and gave them to a stadium employee. Chicago Stadium closed in 1994 after 65 years, when the new United Center opened.

The employee, Brian Kuhn, said in a letter that he worked in the Bulls’ ticket office for nine years. Kuhn writes that he had been asking Jordan for a pair of his shoes that entire final season and that Jordan finally gave him the Air Jordans after the last home game.

Bidding began Nov. 2 and continues until Nov. 12. The opening bid was $1,200, and after nine bids so far, it’s up to $2,000. On their site, Huggins and Scott notes that the same style of Jordans from the same year sold for more than $11,000 at a public auction earlier this year.

The shoes feature signatures on both toes and are a size 13. In August, a few pairs of Jordan’s game-worn sneakers went up for bidding on SCP Auctions’ website. And in April, a pair of Nike Air Ship sneakers from Jordan’s rookie season were auctioned for $71,554, which, according to ESPN, was the second-highest amount paid for a pair of game-worn MJ sneakers.
