LeBron James Gives Special Olympian His Nike Shoes

Although LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers were on the road, James’ mid game gesture towards a Special Olympic athlete made even the Boston Celtics crowd cheer for him.

During home games at TD Garden, the Celtics honor a “Hero of the Game.” During Wednesday’s matchup against the Cavaliers, the team gave the honor to 16-year-old Aaron Miller, a Special Olympic athlete who won the MVP award at a recent local Special Olympics competition.

According to multiple reports, Miller was born with severe brain damage and his doctors informed him that he would be both physically and mentally paralyzed. Miller defied the doctors’ expectations, and after countless hours of surgery, he now plays golf and basketball on his school’s teams.

James saw the presentation on the Jumbotron during a timeout and before action commenced the baller ran to the sidelines to congratulate him. James said during his post game interview that Miller was wearing the Nike Zoom Soldier Flyease 8, an easy-entry shoe designed for people who have trouble getting in and out of shoes as well as tying them.

Miller wore one pair of James’ shoes to the game left TD Garden with two pairs, as the Cavaliers star said after the game that he gave the Special Olympian his shoes. James was wearing the LeBron 13 Opening Night, a shoe featuring a cool gray and wolf gray upper with a deep garnet midsole and an icy translucent outsole. The shoes were released on Black Friday with a $220 retail price.
