Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Kobe Bryant turns 37 on Sunday, and while he preps for the upcoming season, FN took a look back at his top on-the-court sneaker moments.
Although Nike now sponsors Bryant, he began his career in Adidas. There was a period of time between contracts with Nike and Adidas where Bryant was in multiple brands of shoes, including Brand Jordan and Reebok. The guard took the court in the brand’s most popular silhouettes, including the Reebok Question (Allen Iverson’s signature shoe), the Air Jordan 11 and Air Jordan 12.
Since joining Nike, the brand has produced 10 signature shoes for the future hall-of-fame baller, most recently with the Kobe X, which features Lunarlon cushioning with flex grooves in the forefoot, the brand’s Zoom unit in the heel for additional cushioning, a carbon fiber shank for responsiveness, and a mesh half inner sleeve for ventilation and comfort.
Although the Kobe X was the shoe Bryant wore during an injury-shortened season in 2014-15, the brand continues to release new colorways throughout the offseason until he hits the court again, where fans of Bryant and his signature shoes will impatiently await the release of the Kobe 11.
Here are some of Bryant’s best sneaker moments throughout his professional basketball career.
