Under Armour’s Jordan Spieth Becomes The World’s No. 1 Golfer
Although Jordan Spieth did not win the PGA Championship on Sunday, the Under Armour-sponsored golf pro’s second-place performance moved him up to the No. 1 spot on the Official World Golf Ranking list.
The 22-year-old Dallas native is the second-youngest player in the sport’s history to land the No. 1 spot, after Tiger Woods, who was 21 when he became the world’s top golfer in 1997. Spieth took the No. 1 spot with a second-place finish on Sunday after Nike-sponsored Roy McIlroy, who held the No. 1 spot until this past weekend’s PGA Championship, finished 17th overall, shooting 9 under par.
Spieth shot 17 under par for the PGA Championship, behind winner Jason Day, who shot 20 under par.
The golf superstar achieved his second-place finish Sunday wearing the UA Drive One, which features a predominantly white upper with hints of gray and black, and a white outsole. The shoe boasts the brand’s ArmourVent mesh, waterproof OutDry and Micro G foam cushioning technologies, as well as sport-cleat brand Champ’s Zarma Tour spikes for grip.

The shoes are sold out on Under Armour’s website, with the brand saying that overwhelming demand caused them to be “sold out in record time.”
