Fashion seems to be the big driver for museums this summer. The Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s exhibition, “China: Through the Looking Glass,” is the most-attended ever for the Costume Institute.
According to WWD, as of this weekend, 671,234 people had visited the show, and there are still three weeks to go until the exhibition closes on Sept. 7.
Until this past weekend, the 2011 Alexander McQueen exhibit, “Savage Beauty,” had held the top spot, with 661,509 attendees.
It’s the second major moment for fashion in museums this summer. “Savage Beauty” became the most-visited show in the history of the Victoria & Albert Museum, with just under half a million people attending.
Last year, the Met reported, 6.3 million people visited the New York museum.
