The latest suede shoes for fall ’15 offer playful fringe detailing. The new look for footwear brands? Combining bohemian ’70s influences with modern, unexpected styles — from T-strap sandals to stiletto fringe boots.
A bevy of labels, from contemporary to high-end, have embraced the suede fringe message. Vince Camuto used black suede fringe, interlacing it with metal hardware for day-into-night appeal. Stuart Weitzman used fringe in a more casual setting, as a side panel on the label’s signature thigh-high boot.
Pau Andrew took the fringe boot to new heights, adding a stiletto heel in a deep purple suede, while Aquazzura’s ankle bootie incorporates different fringe widths — from traditional to extra-thick panels — which made for an unusual, eye-catching detail.
To wear the retro style, keep the rest of your outfit decidedly modern. A culotte-length jean will maintain the overall ’70s aesthetic, but with a fresh modern spin (plus, culotte lengths show off the shoes more!). A white lace or ruffled dress will convey the romantic side of the era as well.
