When in doubt, put a sock on it. The footwear at Marni‘s men’s spring ’16 show in Milan featured thick wool socks attached to neoprene sneakers and leather sandals, which certainly saves a step in your morning dress routine.
The wool-knit socks mostly came in a black-and-white melange, while others had a bit of red in them to reflect the shoes. The idea of a permanent sock in the summertime may seem like a sadistic fashion choice, but it reflects the seasonless message that both retailers and designers have been increasingly embracing.
There were a limited number of styles for spring. Thick double-strap sandals were shown — somewhat of a regular offering for the brand —while laceless neoprene sneakers again hit the athleisure mark that Marni has been nailing lately.
Thoughtful design was even extended to the bottom of the shoe. Vibrant yellow-and-blue soles peeked out at the toe cap, offering a punch of color with each step.
