First Look At Tabitha Simmons’ Spring 2016 Shoe Collection

Though a longtime New Yorker now, Tabitha Simmons never left her distinctly British sensibility behind. “Yes, I love a good English garden reference, which inspired a big part of this collection,” she said.

She applied various floral and fauna (from embroidery to leather blooms) to various groupings within the spring ’16 collection, the strongest being a jute colored canvas with multicolor blooms and in a pretty pink and navy. Simmons is also working hard to make sure her seasonal ideas are fully realized and slightly more commercial, offering various heel heights, single and platform soles to her greenhouse of options.

And after an initial test run last season, the woman who made pointy toes a trend again is seeing much success with her gamine round-toes, which she developed further this go-around. Again, smart move.

Lest it sound a little safe, Simmons wisely collaborated with London designer Roksanda Ilincic on some dramatically different lace-up pastel boots and booties.

She also reminded us that she is the woman behind Dolce & Gabbana’s sultry/sweet come-hither as the label’s runway and campaign stylist with a series of thick lace Mary-Jane pumps and pointed flats that stole the show, so to speak. “I wanted to do my take on a underwear-inspired shoe,” she said of the elegantly cheeky styles. Mission accomplished.
