Santoni has unveiled its spring ’16 men’s collection at the Palazzo Bocconi in Milan, a 19th century estate on Corso Venezia. Both the space evoked and the footwear evoked grandeur, excess and splendor — something different for the traditionally conservative brand.
Classic dress silhouettes, like the monk strap and smoking loafer, were elevated with croc embossing, burnished leathers and kiltie details.
“The new collection is inspired by hyperrealism, a trend that brings to light everything that has been hidden … an excess compared to the reality,” said CEO Giuseppe Santoni. “You can easily capture this mood from the reinterpretation of our double buckle, which becomes a four-buckle.”

Luxe sneakers were also a strong push for the season — something many classic luxury brands have been slowly tapping into. White low-top styles were done in both burnished and perforated leather.
While the spring offering was much more youthful than past collections, Santoni assures that the brand’s design experimentation will always err on the side of subtlety. “For Santoni, this means playing with color contrasts and shades, perforations, laser cuts — a new, sophisticated elegance,” he said.
