In keeping with its recurring focus on athleisure footwear, Marni has revealed a closer look at its spring ’16 men’s shoes, which made their debut at Milan Fashion Week.
Designer Consuelo Castiglioni chose high-performance fabrics like neoprene, adding it to a laceless sneaker with a single Velcro strap. For a brand that does athleisure every season, the look wasn’t exactly new, but fresh flourishes came in the form of color-blocked soles. After all, if Marni isn’t afraid of one thing, it’s color.
The brand’s main runway style, a double-strap sandal, made it into the main collection. While the runway version featured a heavy wool sock attached to the sandal, the commercial version left that detail off for a more season-appropriate look.
The shoes also had a different feel than their women’s counterparts. Compared with the Marni woman’s clunky shapes and flatform soles, the men’s collection was more streamlined overall — and maybe even a bit practical, too.
