The H&M and Balmain collaboration has landed. After it’s debut in New York last night at a star-and-supermodel studded runway show, the collection will be available in store and online starting November 5. Run, in heels.
While designer Olivier Rousteing took cues from his entire tenure at the Paris fashion house (spanning 4 years) in creating pieces for the Swedish retailer, the footwear was especially referential.
Rope-strapped stiletto sandals with metallic gold detailing were near identical to those from the fall ’14 runway. They were shown in black, red, and a striking ivory, as seen on Gigi Hadid for her finale walk. Ornate beaded ankle boots and endless black suede thigh-highs were also featured.
The styling also took it’s cues from the same season. While Balmain‘s silhouettes always cut to revel the shape of the body, not a lot of actual skin was revealed.
As FN learned exclusively, Rousteing had his team buy up all the Wolford matte opaque 80 denier black tights in New York City. Apparently when it comes to legwear, fast fashion simply won’t do.
For the men, sharp military-inspired looks were filtered through the #balmainarmy lens. Backstreet Boys-approved combat boots featured heavily, as worn by models and also the group during their surprise performance. A metal-capped version and monk strap were also included.
