Edgardo Osorio, Aquazzura’s Italy-based designer, shares his local perspective on visiting Florence. Read on for all his best travel tips.
My favorite area: “I love my neighborhood, next to Ponte Vecchio, Piazza Santa Trinita and Piazza della Repubblica. It’s so great to leave the house and be in the heart of the city, filled with shops, cafés and restaurants.”
Go-to dining spots: “Trattoria Cammillo is my canteen. I love their prawn curry — it’s the best ever. I also love to go to Caffè Cibrèo, where they bring you whatever is fresh and the menu is always changing.”
Off the beaten path: “Visit the gardens at the Four Seasons Hotel. It is the former estate of the Gherardesca family and offers four acres of gardens and a pool in the center of Florence. Plus, they have the best Sunday brunch in the city.”
Can’t-miss destination: “Watching the sunset from Ponte Santa Trinita is a ritual that many locals and tourists love to do — preferably with a gelato in hand.”
Three things every Florentine needs: “Good wine, great cappuccino and beautifully tailored clothes.”
Best thing about living here: “To be constantly surrounded by history, art and beauty. Florence is the jewel box of Italy.”
If Florence were a shoe, it would be: “Our Christy flat in velvet.”
