Taylor Swift kicked off the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet wearing a sequined houndstooth crop top-and-pants combo, which she paired with Christian Louboutin pumps. She arrived with a group of her famous friends, including Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Selena Gomez and Victoria’s Secret model Martha Hunt.

Nicki Minaj opened the show with a performance of her song “Trini Dem Girls,” which turned into a surprise dual performance when Swift came out to sing Minaj’s song “The Night Is Still Young.” The two had engaged in a Twitter battle earlier this summer after Minaj took to Twitter to complain about not being nominated for Video of the Year at the VMAs.

Weitzman’s shoes were all over the red carpet. Swift’s friend, Martha Hunt, wore a pair of the designer’s black Legwrap sandals, as did Rita Ora. Bella Thorne chose the same style in gold.
