It would seem that “Star Wars” excitement has hit high fashion this week, with a major shop-in-shop and Force-focused holiday debut at Galeries Lafayette in Paris.
The luxury department store, located at Boulevard Haussmann, has teamed up with Disney ahead of the new film “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” to debut a 4,000 sq.-ft. in-store shop dedicated to product inspired by the film. The Galeries Lafayette stores in Nantes and Nice will have smaller versions of the pop-up.
Last night, the store hosted a parade behind the Paris Opera, complete with Storm Troopers, Jedis and Imperial Red Guards to unveil its “Star Wars”-themed holiday window displays. R2-D2 and the new BB8 were also spotted in the lineup.
As a part of the “Star Wars” holiday celebrations, the store will display specially designed Storm Trooper helmets created by artists and will include a capsule collection of items designed by Institut Français de la Mode fashion students.
In addition to the “Star Wars” inspired windows and pop-up shop featuring everything from toys to galactic-inspired shoes, the stores have transformed their windows into a holiday story featuring a space robot and his family to continue the intergalactic theme.
