Under Armour has a new addition to its team of endorsers.
The Baltimore, Md.-based brand signed 2010 Heisman trophy winner and BCS national champion Cam Newton to a footwear, apparel and accessories endorsement deal, the company announced Wednesday.
As part of the multi-year agreement, Newton will be featured in national advertising and in-store campaigns this year. During this week’s NFL scouting combine, the player will also debut the brand’s latest football collection.
Newton made himself eligible for the NFL draft in January and was the quarterback of the undefeated Auburn Tigers this past NCAA season. Other Under Armour endorsers from the NFL include Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, Miles Austin of the Dallas Cowboys and Anquan Boldin of the Baltimore Ravens.
“Cam Newton is an incredible talent and a proven champion whose skills are unique and exciting,” said Under Armour SVP of sports marketing Matt Mirchin, in a statement. “He electrified the college football world this past season, and his commitment to training and preparation, along with his hunger to succeed at the next level, make him a perfect fit for the Under Armour family.”
